Enyi Okpara
he/him/his
Artistic Director, Founder
Enyi is the Artistic Director and Founder of Elysium Music, the Conductor-In-Residence for the London Schools Symphony Orchestra, and newly appointed Calleva Assistant Conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, commencing in September 2024. He was previously a finalist in the inaugural Weston Conductors Competition 2022, where he conducted the National Youth Brass Band, and a Young Conducting Scholar with the national choral charity Sing for Pleasure.
Enyi recently graduated from the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied for an MA in Orchestral Conducting with Sian Edwards, earning the Princess Alice Award for exemplary studentship.

Tristan Weymes

Deputy Artistic Director, Choral Lead
Tristan graduated with Distinction and DipRAM from the Royal Academy of Music’s prestigious Choral Conducting MA course, studying under Patrick Russill, where he earned a Regency award for all-round excellent studentship during his time there. Prior to this, he graduated from Trinity College, Oxford University, in 2021, where he conducted Trinity College Chapel Choir, the Oxford University Chorus, and the Turl Street Arts Festival Orchestra. He is Director of Music at St Mary the Virgin, Merton Park, Conductor of University College London Chamber Choir, Assistant Leader with the London Youth Cambiata Boys’ Choir. Tristan is also Deputy Artistic Director and Choral Lead of Elysium, an organisation which aims to provide musical opportunities to young people who don’t have access to them. His work with youth choirs has involved roles with Inner Voices, Highbury Youth Choir, Frideswide Voices of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, as well as abroad. Tristan’s recent workshop engagements have led him to work with a variety of community and youth choirs, as well as recently working with Nadine Benjamin MBE towards her 2023 ‘Everybody Can’ concert.

Jennifer Porter

Head of Operations
Jennifer is a freelance singer and choral conductor based in London. Originally from Manchester, she moved to Birmingham to complete an undergraduate music degree, specialising in choral conducting. After this, she undertook a PGCE to pursue a career in primary teaching in London. She currently works at a school in Wandsworth where she spearheads extracurricular music activities. Alongside this she has worked with various churches and with the children’s choirs of London Youth Conservatoire. She is passionate about bringing quality music education to all children, regardless of background and believes Elysium is the right place to achieve this. Jennifer is an avid reader and enjoys running.

Natalie Dalcher
she/her/hers
Head of Communications
Natalie is a freelance singer, conductor, and arranger from London. She has recently completed a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance with distinction at Goldsmiths, University of London. She currently works at Mount House School in Barnet, where she leads the classical music co-curricular programme – running choirs, organising events, and creating a culture of singing. She has recently taken up the position of Conducting Fellow at Milton Keynes Chorale, working with Mark Jordan and Alex Aitken. Natalie’s singing work has included solos on BBC radio and television broadcasts, a UK premiere at the Royal Festival Hall, and regularly singing at the first and last night of the Proms.
Natalie is passionate about outreach opportunities and equality within music, and alongside her position at Elysium she is a co-founder of Two Larks Productions, a female-led production and arrangement company, aiming to level the playing-field in a 97% male-dominated industry.

Jay Piamjariyakul

Head of Publicity, Composer-in-Residence
Jay is a hardware engineer, hobbyist composer of choral music and media scoring, and bass lay-clerk with Magdalene College Choir based in Cambridge. Despite having no formal music tuition, he had received vocal training during high school and has since continued singing. During his time in university, Jay served as Bristol University Music Society's Wind Orchestra Conductor and the society's Publicity Officer during 2020-21, the latter of which he designed the various posters for each event and concert. These skills allowed him to contribute to Elysium's branding, from designing the current Elysium logo, to its posters, and including serving as the website's designer and webmaster. Additionally, Jay has also premiered a number of pieces with Elysium Consort, in the "Gala Concert" and "Songs of Winter" concerts of 2021.

Freddie Barlett-Evans

Head of Finance
Freddie was introduced to how important community music projects are when he joined Camden Youth Choir at 9 years old (where he also met Enyi). Being able to rehearse with friends, and then perform music together to an audience was both a lovely but very formative part of his childhood. He is proud to be a member of the Elysium team and the mission Elysium is striving for.
Freddie is currently a civil servant working on climate policy analysis, (specifically hydrogen systems modelling), although in his spare time he can be found playing guitar and singing country music in his bedroom.

Maki Gajic Murata
she/her/hers
Head of Outreach
Maki is currently in her first year at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama studying a Master’s in Composition. Maki is a passionate musician and balances a busy freelance schedule involving singing in and accompanying choirs, teaching, and conducting. As a composer, Maki has had her works performed by renowned ensembles such as the Hermes Experiment and BCMG, and most recently collaborated with the London Contemporary Dance School. Maki has also composed and arranged several pieces for her students. She hopes to share her compositions and love for music with as many communities as possible and help make music accessible to all.

Stephen Nurse

Head of Strings
Steve has been on the Elysium team since its first concert in December 2021. He spends his weeks working at SOAS University, and many of his weekends playing violin as a freelance professional. He currently leads the Langtree Sinfonia Orchestra, and will be principal violin for the Finchley Symphony Orchestra for Autumn 2024. Previously, he led the Bristol University Symphony Orchestra for 2 years, and spent 6 years with the National Youth String Orchestra.
With two-and-a-half years’ experience of youth work in South London, Steve continues to pursue a passion for providing young people with the opportunities to thrive and overcome their barriers to potential. He mentions the side-by-side project involving Florence Price’s 1st Symphony as a particular highlight, and is excited to see the charity grow further in the coming year.

Simon Kelly

Head of Woodwinds & Brass
Simon Kelly is a London-based flautist and woodwind doubler. As a soloist, Simon performs classical recitals on Fred Olsen and P&O cruise lines and has worked with conductors such as Sir Mark Elder, Alice Farnham and Martin Lowe. He has played in pit bands for various agents showcases, cabarets and revues and is versatile across many musical theatre genres. His most recent engagements include Company (RADA), Pal Joey (Tower Theatre) and Merrily We Roll Along (Royal Academy of Music).
Simon graduated with a first class degree in Music from The University of Manchester, studying flute under Gavin Osborn. He continued with a masters degree in flute performance at the Royal Academy of Music under the tutorage of Karen Jones and Laura Jellicoe, whilst studying piccolo and saxophone with Patricia Morris and Huw Wiggin respectively. Simon was recipient of Highly Commended honours in the Jonathan Myall Piccolo Prize as well as a concerto award at university.
Outside of music Simon is a keen rugby supporter (though is reluctant to return to the field) and enjoys laughing at his own jokes.

Sam Dawes
he/him/his
Operations Assistant
Sam is currently studying Trombone at the Royal Academy of Music, where he holds the Julien Award, on the Master’s of Music course, having spent 4 years there previously completing his bachelor’s degree. He has been with the Elysium team as Operations Assistant for almost two years now, however has been performing with them since their second concert! Aside from trombone, Sam is a keen arranger adapting familiar works for brass instruments. Recent works include, “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, commissioned by the Sainsbury family for their 50th Wedding anniversary and “Peter and the Wolf” for brass septet, which made its premiere at the Royal Academy’s Student’s Create festival. Away from music, Sam enjoys cooking, coffee and watching the Arsenal!
