About Us
Elysium is a charity dedicated to bridging the gap between children and young professional musicians. Founded in 2021 by Enyi Okpara, Elysium provides side-by-side projects, workshops and resources to provide school musicians with a real flavour of life as a professional musician.
Our resident groups, the Elysium Orchestra and the Elysium Consort, are formed of some of the UK’s finest young musicians and their side-by-side performances demonstrate music-making at the highest level. Our mission is to provide students with opportunities to live, breathe and be exposed to, high-level music making in order to inspire them at the early stages of their musical journey.
Our previous projects include our A Winter’s Night project, which involved a side-by-side performance of Bob Chilcott’s On Christmas Night and Sarah Quartel’s A Winter’s Day. In April 2023, our African Soundscapes project saw us collaborate with two schools for a performance of Florence Price’s Symphony No.1. Future projects include our Enigma Re-Imagined project in 2025, which will premiere compositions by children from 14 schools, and involve our Young Composers Competition, open to musicians between the ages of 13-18.
